Francis and Nancy's youngest daughter, Margaret L. McMordie, was born 27 Apr 1804, in Mercer County, Kentucky (Probate Record, 1834; Walling, 1991). She married James L. Crawford on 27 Sep 1831, in Mercer County, Kentucky. Her brother-in-law, William C. Cowan, was her surety (sponsor) for the marriage (Cook, 1987). The 1850 Census of Boyle County, Kentucky, listed James L. Crawford, born in South Carolina, as a 53-year-old farmer with property valued at $10,000. Mary L.Crawford, age 46, was listed as his wife. At this time James and Mary had been married for 19 years. Any children they might have had would possibly have still been at home at this time. Since no dependents were listed, they were probably childless.
