Jane, eldest daughter of Francis and Nancy McMordie, was born on 16 Mar 1794 in Mercer County, Kentucky, and married John Steele, on 13 Sep 1819 (Probate Record, 1834; Walling, 1991; lson & Conover, 1970). According to the Will of Francis McMordie, Dr. John Steele was from Ohio. Since Jane was not listed in this will, she probably died prior to 22 Jun 1831. No other records of Jane McMordie Steele or her children have been found by this author.
